Simon Tedeschi
Saturday 8 October 2016
Blue Mountains Theatre, Springwood
Piano solo recital
Extraordinary Australian pianist and BMCS Patron, Simon Tedeschi, will perform one of the greatest works in the keyboard literature, Mussorgsky’s 'Pictures at an Exhibition'. This is a suite in ten movements, interspersed with a Promenade.
Inspired by Mussorgsky’s friend Viktor Hartmann, the celebrated Russian artist and architect, this piece is a walk in the composer’s mind’s eye as he surveys an exhibition of Hartmann’s work (now sadly either lost or destroyed) that features different figments and scenes of Europe and its inhabitants and reflects his reaction to the pictures seen.
Don't miss this evocative performance!

Orchestral
A chamber concert of contrasts and intrigue featuring the talented Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows.

Mozart was the master of the Divertimento - or diversion -but it's not a divertimento by Mozart we hear in this program, rather one by Ibert, an admirer of Mozart’s. His Divertissement, written as incidental music for a farce called The Straw Hat, is wickedly funny entertainment.
